The pleasures of a childhood on the farm can be a part of your child's
lifelong memories! Read on to see how your child, from two years through
age thirteen, can experience life on the farm at Stratford Ecological
Center.

About Stratford's Teaching Philosophy
Stratford is more than information. It is the spirit in the woods - the
touch of moss with the tip of your nose, and the gratitude given to a plant
prior to picking a taste. We are all made from the sun and return to the
soil, just as every other animal and every plant. The food we eat connects
us to everything else on our planet.
Stratford's organic farm intimately connects children to their food; placing
a seed in the earth and tasting a leaf of spinach, giving water to a chicken and
washing a freshly laid egg.
Adventure is everywhere; in the animal holes in the ground and in the search
for a perfect berry. Mystery surrounds children, filling their souls with
a longing to explore and a need to discover for themselves the meaning of
things. At Stratford we use play to learn with all our body; we become
squirrels; we breathe in tandem with the trees. Learning is the pleasant
consequence of play, when play interacts with our brother and sister creatures
of the earth.
Our hope is that by encouraging appreciation in a child, we are fostering a
lifelong respect for the beauty and diversity of life around us.
Farm
Camp for 3-5 year olds and a parent
Dates: June 9th -
13th or June 23rd - 27th
Times: 10:00am - 12:00pm (Stay
for a picnic after.)
Price: $75.00/child
Parent and child will experience
the farm together through simple and playful activities. Young hands
will be challenged by collecting and washing freshly laid eggs. Giggles
and water will pour from tiny water cans, nurturing seeds little fingers have
planted. Activities will stimulate child and parent to explore and play
on the farm together.
Registration: Registration can
be processed by phone, email or mail. A deposit of $25.00 is required to
secure your reservation. Paperwork will be sent to you upon receipt of

Farm
Camp for 6-8 year olds
Dates: June 16th -
20th or July 21st - 25th
Times: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Price: $150.00/child
Daily, campers will tend to the
farm animals: feeding, watering, milking and collecting eggs. The easy
rhythms of the farm will carry the children from chores to play and back again
throughout the day. Hands will be immersed in mud and water, berries and
brambles, as the children experience fully through their senses. Days
will become adventures as children explore the forest, turning nature into
paint, mossy bark into fairy homes and holes into hideouts. This will be
a week of experiences your child will not soon forget!

Camp for 9-12 year olds
Dates: July 7th -
11th (eco focus) or August 11th - 15th (farm
focus)
Times: 9:00am - 4:00pm,
overnight Thursday with Friday pick-up at 1:00pm
Price: $185.00/child
July
7th - 11th: This camp will focus on eco adventure!
Campers will discover their senses as they experience the cycles of the Earth
through fun and play. Stratford will be explored thoughtfully as children take
part in adventures around the farm and forest, finding their own “magic
spot.” Campers will interact with the animals and gardens throughout the week.
August
11th - 15th: This camp will focus on farm living.
Bright and early each day, campers will care for the farm animals, feeling the
daily cycles of farm life. Their hands will plant the fall crops, tend the
summer vegetables and take part in harvesting and preparing for the farmer’s
market. From pasture to pen, learn what it takes to be an organic farmer while
laughing and playing with the Earth.

Family
Camp
Dates: July 31st -
August 3rd
Times: Thursday, 10:00am -
4:00pm; Friday 10:00am - Sunday 11:30am
Price: $300 parent/child
pair, $100 for each additional family member
For
families with children 8 years old or older. Bond with your child(ren) while
sharing your love of nature. Become fully immersed in the outdoors while
learning ancestral skills from the instructors of Coyote Trails; take part in
Earth-connectin
g games and activities and become involved in life on the farm. As you take
off your watch, you are free to relax into the moment, being fully present
with your child and with your experience in the natural world. This camp is
focused around connecting parent and child with each other, with the subtle
experience of their senses, and with the gentle rhythms of the Earth. We’ll
camp under the stars by the fire circle at Stratford’s pond.
